„Reading the Bible Through the Eyes of Another“
– An Intercultural Project
The project „Reading the Bible Through the Eyes of Another” is part of the EMS Focus: “Giving Account of our Hope – Christian Witness in a Pluralistic World.”
Through this project, EMS is helping groups of various cultural and national backgrounds to “join hands” around the Bible by jointly reading biblical texts. In practice, two groups enter into a partnership arrangement. They choose their biblical texts together, share their insights with each other and by employing the views of the partner group experience these texts anew. The EMS Focus Workbook provides a supportive framework for the exchange. It can be downloaded or ordered directly and is available in English, German, Spanish and Indonesian.
This project is set up at the adult level. However, we invite school classes, youth groups and kindergartens to participate in our children’s project: “Sharing our Hope”. Children from various cultural backgrounds are invited to illustrate biblical stories and exchange their drawings with similar groups in other countries. Our “Children’s Workbook” is packed full of suggestions and helpful hints. It is available in English and German.
The children’s project is sponsored jointly by EMS, Worldwide Surprise, The German Bible Society and the Scripture Union International.
We will be happy to send you the Children’s Workbook in printed form.
